Born to Jazmin, brown Chaeth's rider and F'nar, blue Pavanth's rider of Benden Weyr, Zynassa spent her first few turns happily immured in weyrlife as a toddler. F'nar and Alyssa, blue Adonith's rider, were a fairly stable pair, and expanded to accomidate Jazmin and her infant. The trio shared the rearing duties, though Zynassa was ignorant of this slightly unusual arrangement. Just before she turned a year old, chaos struck Benden. The Weyrleaders met in council, and at the request from the Telgari weyrfolk, voted to remove G'mort and Brenna from their positions as Seniors at Telgar Weyr. The decision was contingent upon a senior pair from another weyr taking over the leadership. At that time, Benden was having trouble with their water supply, and it made sense for Jehrina and K'tyn to take over the administration of Telgar Weyr, moving most of the Benden wings with them. Alyssa went to Telgar, while F'nar and Jazmin chose to remain at Benden.

Jazmin's oldest child Yazric was born at Bitra before Jazmin impressed Chaeth. Jaeleka was fostered at Bitra, Jazmin's home hold, though Zynassa was too young to yet leave her mother, despite the upheaval in the weyrs. Some say Jaeleka was relieved - she really hadn't wanted a baby sister and was already nearly five turns old when Zyna came along. Perhaps that was why she tried to toss the baby off the ledge. Thank Faranth for Chaeth's calming influence. Put in the Benden nursery with the rest of the children, Zynassa got used to the lack of riders about - indeed, she was young enough that the move never really impacted her. Until she herself was moved to Telgar with her mother. The water situation at Benden had finally approached the critical level, and the weyr was forced to go down to a skeleton staff. Even some of Benden's coverage area was given to Telgar Weyr, including Bitra Hold. Zynassa wasn't as fond of Telgar as she was Benden - there weren't as many interesting places to explore and slip away from the nannies! However, as a rider, and with twins Joar and Jarin complicating things, Jazmin was forced to foster Zynassa as well to Bitra, by the time the girl was around six turns old.

Yazric and Jaeleka, nine and five turns older than Zyna respectively, had already moved on to other things by the time Zynassa came to Bitra. Yaz had gone to Ista Weyr and Jaeleka to the Harper Craft to apprentice. Zynassa was extremely happy at Bitra, fostered to Lord Tenefel and Lady Jessy. She adored her 'Papafel', and grew into a precocious young girl, keenly interested in runners. Lady Jessy's retirement drew the girl even closer to her foster father, and she was at first bitterly disappointed when he married Lady Filliana. Slowly she began to warm to her foster mother, and the pair bonded over the care of runnerbeasts. It was this bond that saved the girl from becoming completely withdrawn after Tenefel's death.

The loss of her Papafel left Zynassa lonely, and Filliana helped fill that void, though it was a slow reemergence back into society for the girl. After several turns, Zynassa began to take a more active interest in runners, and talk of developing a breeding program. At a precocious 18 turns, she is now visiting with her brother at Ista (Yazric went on to become A'zric, bronze Gelth's, and Weyrleader at Ista Weyr) and debating an apprenticeship at the Beastcraft. The young girl is on the verge of becoming an adult and is equipped with her sister's quick wit and love of teasing, particularly when it comes to her older brother. Runner mad, she spends all her spare moments in the weyr corrals, looking after the small contingent of runners the weyr keeps on hand as well as her niece, Yina.

As she settled in, she began to see more and more of Br'nal, Yanaleth's rider. Then Kaylira, a childhood friend from Benden and Telgar was searched for Qirith and Tuoth's eggs. Unfortunately, Kaylira was left standing, though many others found lifemates that day. Wrapped up in plans for her runner breeding project, she took little note when Reye's gold Omfaleth rose, until it was Br'nal's brown who caught her! Not wishing to interfere between a goldrider and the clutch sire, Nassa found the stables even more absorbing and began to make excuses to stay out of the caverns and away from Br'nal more and more, though she still giving riding lessons to Sabrin and Dosali, his children. Finally, Grissa caught her, and asked her to be one of her assistants. Nassa accepted, and now is in charge of the nurseries and outside areas of the weyr.
